Karan Johar’s “Student Of The Year” film is very much in the news since a very long time for the sequel of the film. Many speculated that Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar and Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan will be the lead stars of the film. Well, the speculations die now after the confirmation from Karan Johar himself.

Heropanti star Tiger Shroff who has given two hits including his debut is now officially a part of ‘Student Of The Year’  sequel. Well, Tiger must be surely on cloud 9 currently. We are now curious to know which actress will star opposite Tiger Shroff in SOTY sequel.

Akshay Kumar – Neeraj Pandey’s CRACK takes Independence Day weekend in 2017

Riding high on the super-success of ‘Rustom’, Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey have announced their next film together, which will release during the Independence Day weekend in 2017.
Titled ‘Crack’, the film will be directed by Neeraj Pandey, who has previously directed Akshay Kumar in films like ‘Special 26’ and ‘Baby’.
“Friends, I’m happy to share with you that after Special 26 and Baby, in 2017, I’m collaborating with Neeraj Pandey once again! This time,we come together for ‘CRACK’ – A Neeraj Pandey film. Releases Independence Day weekend 2017.Need your love” Akshay tweeted on Monday.
The superstar now has three films that are scheduled to release in 2017; Jolly LLB 2 (10th February), Crack (11th August) and Robot 2.0 (Diwali tentative). He should also have one other film tentatively titled ‘Ikka’.
The announcement comes at a time when there were rumours within the industry that Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali were looking at the Independence Day weekend for their next film.

Bollywood’s Independence Day Weekend: Box Office Analysis

The Independence Day has historically been a huge weekend for the Hindi film industry. The most iconic film of all time – Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay – released on this very day exactly 41 years ago. Even after nearly 4 decades, the lead hero of the film, the evergreen Amitabh Bachchan remains one of the busiest actors in the industry.

In the last 10 years, 12 Hindi films (small films were not taken into consideration) have released during the weekend. Both the biggest grosser and the lowest grosser of the Independence Day weekend belong to Salman Khan. It goes to show the phenomenal rise of the superstar in the last few years. Back then, not only did a film featuring a one-film-old Ranbir Kapoor release on the same day as a Salman starrer, but it held the upper hand and quite easily won the box office clash.

8 year later, Salman is the undisputed biggest star in the industry and even a top star like Shah Rukh Khan had to postpone his keenly-awaited film ‘Raees’ to let ‘Sultan’ take centre stage.

Rustom will be Akshay Kumar’s first success during the Independence Day weekend, his last two films during the same period – Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara and Brothers – were huge failures at the ticket window.

Chak De India is probably the best and most acclaimed film to release during the ‘freedom weekend’ in the last 10 years. The film did not take a huge start at the box office, but went on to be a blockbuster with incredible word-of-mouth. For a lot of people, it could be the career-best film of Shah Rukh Khan.

Salman Khan Wraps Up Tubelight’s Ladakh Shoot

Salman Khan recently gave us a blockbuster like Sultan and has now started working on his next project. The actor is now working on Kabir Khan’s next, titled Tubelight and the first schedule of the film recently kicked off in Ladakh.
After a 15 day shoot, looks like the team had a mini wrap up party. A few pictures were seen floating around in the social media. Salman Khan is seen along with Kabir Khan and their team.
Also present at the party was Salman’s rumored girlfriend Iulia Vantur. She seems to have accompanied the actor on his Ladakh shoot.
The film will be a period drama based on the backdrop of 1962 Indo-Sino war. We recently learnt that Chinese actress Zhu Zhu will be playing Salman’s female lead in the film.

Box Office: Akshay Kumar’s Rustom Vs Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro First Day Collection

Akshay Kumar’s Rustom’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ are now witnessing a deep battle at the box office. The Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom had raced ahead of the historic film with the opening of 35% to 40%. The opening of the Hrithik starrer film was around 25%. Hrithik Roshan’s film has fared amazingly well in the single screens while the multiplex crowds are opting for ‘Rustom’.
As earlier we reported, Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde starrer Mohenjo Daro managed to collect around Rs. 8.75 crore nett (87 million) on its first day, which is, of course, poor. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar’s Rustom had a good first day of around 14 crore nett (140 million) on its first day.

The opening day of Rustom is the fourth best of 2016 after Sultan, Fan and Housefull 3. The principal markets of Mumbai, Delhi, UP and East Punjab have recorded a good collection for the Akshay Kumar film. Nevertheless, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ is a crowd puller in the south and is also making bigger collections in the areas of Nizam, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
Rustom is racing ahead than Mohenjo Daro. It remains to see if both the films have a solid growth on the weekend. It is expected that four-day long weekend might take Rustom towards 60 crore nett.

Rustom records 4th highest opening day of 2016

Akshay Kumar’s Rustom has recorded the 4th highest opening day of 2016, behind films like FAN and Housefull 3. Salman Khan’s Sultan, of course, tops the list by a country mile and cannot be compared to any other film that has released in 2016.

Rustom has held strongly on Saturday too and the collections are set to grow towards the end of the day. If the film holds up, it could take advantage of the extended 4-day weekend at the box office.

Akshay Kumar now has 3 films in the Top 5, which includes Airlift and Housefull 3. In terms of occupancy, it’s the best opening for an Akshay Kumar film since Rowdy Rathore in 2012.

It’s also only the second Hindi film this year that can be categorised under ‘excellent’ because a total of 14.11 crore is outstanding given the fact that it was competing against a big film like ‘Mohenjo Daro’.

It is speculated that Dhadkan 2 will be on the silver screen as the planning of the film is going on. Rumours were rife that Fawad Khan and Sooraj Pancholi will be cast in the films but that time there was no news for the lady love of both of them. We hear that Baaghi actress Shraddha Kapoor might bag the role as she is considered to be perfect for the role.
This will be the first time that this trio – Fawad Khan, Sooraj Pancholi and Shraddha Kapoor will work together in a film. Dhadkan was a love triangle film which featured Shilpa Shetty, Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar in the film. The film was released in the year 2000 and was a blockbuster back then.
According to media reports, Fawad Khan will be playing the role of Suniel Shetty as he was the villain of the film we will get to see a new avatar of Fawad Khan. Sooraj Pancholi will step into the shoes of Akshay Kumar who is a gentleman and the hero of the film. While Shraddha Kapoor will depict the role played by Shilpa Shetty in the film.

The film is already booked house full in India and US alike for the initial 3 days. Rajnikanth has a huge fanfare across the globe and frenzy is increasing day by day. However, there were only a few lucky ones who got the chance to watch the screening in San Fransisco.

The fans didn’t just stick to watching the movie but also gave an amazing review about it.

However, the fans present for the screening in the US also indulged in some mischief. Apparently, a two-minute video which is said to be Kabali’s opening scene was leaked online which went viral.

Kabali, starring Radhika Apte, Kishore, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan, Dhansikaa, Ritwika and Winston Chao is directed by Pa. Ranjith. The film shows Rajnikanth playing a don, who fights for the rights of Tamils in Malaysia. The film is releasing worldwide tomorrow.

Kabali has already started making its journey to success. The film has collected Rs. 200 Cr as of now with the sale of music and satellite rights.

However, the film is also expected to earn a good Rs. 100 Cr in not more than three days as the advance booking is already full and the demand for tickets is exorbitant.

‘Kabali’ to get the biggest ever release in Kerala, craze increases

Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’, will get the widest ever release for a Tamil film in Kerala. The film, according to trade analysts, will be releasing on 306 screens in Kerala.

It will be legendary Malayalam superstar Mohanlal who will be releasing the film in the state.

Sources say, the demand for tickets in the state is unprecedented as tickets for most of the shows for the weekend have been sold in advance.

The craze is on-par with Tamilnadu, where ticket prices at multiplexes have been hiked, yet there is tremendous demand for tickets that are being sold in black.

Most fans of the superstar want to experience the ‘Rajni craze’ on the day of release, preferably the first day first show. But tickets for the morning shows on Friday, even those starting at 6-7AM in the morning were sold out in minutes.

“Most theatres across the state (Tamilnadu) have sold out tickets for the opening weekend. With the average (multiplex) ticket costing Rs 600, most ardent Rajinikanth fans are disappointed that they couldn’t afford the tickets on the first day,” trade analyst Trinath said.

IANS reports that a few fans of the superstar are disappointed with the pricing of tickets.

“We are used to paying Rs 120 for movie tickets. But this sudden exponential increase in ticket price is very unfair. The prices vary according to the show timings. Early morning shows are sold at Rs 500-600 and the prices are slashed through the course of the day” Santhosh Kumar, a second year college student, said.

However, a few fans have argued that the increased ticket rates is justified because a Rajnikanth film comes once in 2 years.

“We don’t have issues with the ticket prices. It’s once in two or three years, you get a Thalaivar (Rajinikanth’s) film. If you can’t shell out Rs 1,000 for your matinee idol, then what kind of a fan are you” asks Muralikrishna, a chartered accountant.

Although most theatres give preference to fan club members, this year they seem to have favoured companies.

“Across major multiplexes, tickets on the first day were booked by corporates. Some of these companies booked in bulk even before the online booking started. I somehow managed to get a ticket through a friend.

“But when I tried to book five tickets for my family just minutes after online bookings opened, it didn’t even go through” said Muralikrishna.

Directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film also stars Winston Chao, Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh Ravi, Kishore and a few others. The rest of the cast doesn’t matter though – it’s going to be Rajnikanth all the way for people in South India this weekend.

Sultan has recorded by far the highest 2nd Friday collections of 2016, inspite of the film running on its 10th day – the 2nd Friday of all other films was Day 8 – and competing against a film like Great Grand Masti.

Only the Hollywood film ‘The Jungle Book’, with collections of Rs 8.02 crore on its 8th day, was higher than Sultan.

Sultan Create History in a 5 days weekends

The mightiest of the trade predictions have fallen flat. Before the release, even in the best case scenario it had seemed that Sultan would score around 150 crore. Yes, a large section of trade was positive that this major milestone would be surpassed but the more practical being thrown around was around 140 crore. In fact no one (including myself) was even thinking of a number even a crore over the 160 crore mark. However, the unthinkable happened as the Salman Khan starrer maintained a run rate of over 30 crore on each of the five days.
This happened when Sunday turned out to be HUGE too with 39 crore* more coming in. While this is unbelievable in itself, what is truly mind boggling is the fact that the Yash Raj film has now touched a mighty 181.62 crore* already.
With this, in barely 5 days, the film has gone past the lifetime collections of biggies like:

Dabangg 2 – 158.5 crore
Tanu Weds Manu Returns – 152 crore
Bodyguard – 142 crore
Dilwale – 148 crore
Singham Returns – 141 crore
Dabangg – 145 crore

Now this also means that within two more days, Sultan would have crossed the 200 crore milestone. Also, this would be the first time ever when a Bollywood film would have achieved this feat in its first seven days. The film is all set to have the biggest extended Week One as well (in this case, it has nine days to enjoy) and one waits to see which are the other records waiting to be broken.

Amritsar boy Suleiman, 16,  won the seventh edition of India's Got Talent.
Suleiman received a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a Maruti Suzuki Celerio car and an especially crafted trophy engraved with the signatures of show’s judges. Kirron Kher, Malaika Arora Khan and Karan Johar.
The youngster's musical talent comes from his parents, who are professional musicians. While Suleiman takes after his father, a flute player, his sister took after his mother, who plays the harmonium.
Along with the flute, his father also taught him how to play the tabla, keyboard, harmonium and guitar.

Box Office: Salman Khan’s Sultan Goes CRAZY On Fourth Day!

Salman Khan’s Sultan has created chaos on day four of its release with incredible collections. Sultan has had the highest daily collections and it seems that it has had the highest single day on day four, and that too after three enormous days. The Eid affect has created a havoc, and being the weekend collections will continue being crazy today.

On The first day, Sultan collected Rs. 38 crore net approx. ( 380 million) on the second-day Rs. 35 crore net approx. (350 million), on the third-day Rs. 33 crore net approx. (330 million) and on the fourth day, Sultan collected Rs 39.43 crore (398 million). The four-day total collection of the film is Rs 145.43 crore net approx. The way it’s going, it seems that film will reach the 200 crore club in India in no time.

Sultan created history by becoming the first film to cross Rs 200 crore in Worldwide business in the first three days. Salman Khan’s film is the first blockbuster of 2016 and has broken many records even before its release.

Sultan is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is produced by Yash Raj Films. The film has Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead. Salman Khan plays the role of a wrestler in the film whereas Anushka is his love interest. It also stars Randeep Hooda in the parallel lead. The film released on July 6, 2016.

Sultan Worldwide Box Office Collections

Sultan has set opening day records in Gulf and Pakistan, as people celebrated Eid by watching Salman Khan’s film in theatre. In Pakistan, the response was terrific, as the film managed to surpass the collections of previous highest grossers like Dilwale and FAN – by a margin of more than 50%. 

Sultan has become the first film to cross the 3 crore PKR on a single day, which has previously not been achieved by any film in the country. The first day collections of Sultan in Pakistan is 3.45 crore PKR (Rs 2.2 crore).

The Salman Khan starrer has also become the first film to collect more than $1 million on its opening day in Gulf. The film has collected $1.4 million.

The overseas total for the film is approximately Rs 20.5 crore (all centres not reported).

7 records that Salman Khan’s Sultan BROKE on Day 1

Salman Khan‘s film has now become the biggest Eid opener. According to early estimates, the film has collected about Rs 38-40 crore which is way more than the first day collection of his last release on Eid – Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 27.25 crore). It also surpassed the record of Chennai Express, which had collected Rs 33.10 crore on day one.

Biggest opener of 2016

The film is now also the biggest opener of 2016 as it collects around Rs 38-40 crore on day one. In fact, it is double of what Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan that collected Rs 19.20 crore.

Highest collection in advance bookings

The film had broken a record even before it released. Sultan had started its advance booking three days before its release. And as the film released, we came to know that it had collected more than Rs 18 crore (approx Rs 20 crore) which is more than what the advance booking collection of Kick or Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which held the highest collections till now.

Highest opening day collection for a sports based films

Sultan’s Rs 40 crore collection on day one will also be the highest opening day collection for a sports based film. It has easily surpassed the likes of Chak De! India, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (Rs 9 crore approx) and Mary Kom (Rs 8.4 crore)

Highest collection on a Wednesday

Salman Khan has two films now - Ek Tha Tiger and Sultan that have released on Wednesday. We haven’t seen many films releasing mid week but both these films were big ones due to Eid. WhileEk Tha Tiger had managed to open very well at the box office, collecting Rs 32.92 crore on day one, Sultan has managed to easily cross it as it collected Rs 38-40 crore yesterday.

Highest occupancy of 2016

As we mentioned the film opened to an occupancy of 80-90 per cent, which sustained throughout the day. This is now the highest occupancy of 2016, after it beat Shah Rukh Khan’s Fanoccupancy (75-80 per cent) and Akshay Kumar’s Airlift occupancy (above 50-60 per cent).

Best reviewed film for Salman Khan

Sultan is the best reviewed film for Salman Khan ever. While Kick, Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaanand Prem Ratan Dhan Payo did get good reviews, Sultan has been one of those films that has been praised by the critics and the audience. Movie goers can’t stop praising Salman and the film.

The Sonakshi Sinha vs Anurag Kashyap Deathmatch You Never Knew You Wanted

Forget the phenomenal Otomo manga. Forget Mr Kurosawa. This new Hindi film is called Akira simply because it tells us the story of 'Kumari Akira Sharma.' Okay then.

It is a film by AR Murugadoss, director of Ghajini, and thus there is little surprise in the fact that it is another South remake, this time a take on the 2011 Mouna Guru, but hang on -- here the male lead from the original has been replaced by a woman.

This shift, from Arulnithi to Sonakshi Sinha, is a significant one, especially given the misogyny depicted frequently in films of this type.

Speaking of misogyny, it is interesting also to see Anurag Kashyap -- a filmmaker routinely accused of that very thing in a lot of his movies -- playing the villain in Akira.

Kashyap has always had a compelling screen presence, but his work here is old-school masala baddie, it seems, with the trailer not showing us any grey.

So let's not get too thrilled -- I should point his fanboys to Tigmanshu Dhulia's unremarkable Shagird, where Kashyap last played bad.

The story in Akira is Sonakshi Sinha. An actress who hasn't done anything exciting before or since the marvellous Lootera -- which released on this very day, 3 years ago -- here she looks to be pushing herself as she deals out roundhouse kicks.

Elbowing guys in the face might just be her new niche. Who knew?

The trailer doesn't give us much to love besides the fact that the lead in an asinine South-adapted actioner is finally now a woman, but can that be reason enough?

Or will Sinha merely go from playing stupid eye-candy to playing lunkheaded 'hero'?

It's worth looking at how it pans out.

Sultan Movie Review: It's Eid With Your 'Khaandaan' And The 440 Volt Salman Khan!

Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma, Yash Raj Films & Eid release.. It can't get any bigger, right? Salman Khan starrer Sultan has been continuously in tremendous buzz owing to his 'raped woman' remark. There is no doubt that it was an unfortunate incident but we can't ignore the fact that the ongoing controversy automatically promoted Salman's film without an extra effort.
Coming to the film, Sultan, it is basically a sports based film but with a pinch of all factors of 'paisa-vasool' entertainment i.e, romance, songs, power-packed dialogues & action!
